A memo from the Defence Secretary, James Mattis, said that allowing transgender people to serve in the military "could undermine readiness, disrupt unit cohesion, and impose an unreasonable burden on the military that is not conducive to military effectiveness and lethality."

The case was brought forward after two men were subjected to the barbaric practice back in 2015, after being suspected of having gay sex with each other.
