Next In Fashion star Tan France shared his thoughts on the future of Queer Eye and the possibility of Netflix hiring younger hosts.
If you’re a fan of reality TV, chances are you’ve heard of the heartwarming series Queer Eye.
Since its debut in 2018, the beloved show has earned critical acclaim for its emotional stories, LGBTQ+ representation and electric chemistry between the lovable Fab Five.
Made up of grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness, culture expert Karamo Brown, food and wine expert Antoni Porowski, design expert Bobby Berk, and fashion expert Tan France, the fivesome have changed the lives of various “heroes” for the past six seasons.
In a recent interview with Insider, France praised the series for allowing him to fully embrace his queer identity.
“We get to be our queer selves, unabashedly. I’ve never felt like I’ve had a space like that before where I can be 100% comfortable to say: This is who I am. Like it or lump it,” he told the publication.
He also revealed his initial worries of the show failing before its season one premiere.
“I thought that Queer Eye wasn’t going to be successful and that it would be a flop – we’d do one season, then it’d be over.”
Towards the end of his interview, the TV star discussed the future of the show and the possibility of it having “younger and hipper” hosts down the line.
“We’re all knocking on a bit,” he said. “I don’t know how much people will care about our opinion on fashion and hair and whatever when we get into the middle-aged period of our life. I’m sure they’ll want somebody younger and hipper to advise them.”
France’s comments comes two months after Netflix announced that the Fab Five would be headed to New Orleans for the show’s seventh season.
“The Fab 5 just arrived in The Big Easy and are already dripping in Mardi Gras beads. We’re so excited to join the party in this amazing city. Get ready for new adventures and more tears real soon,” the show revealed via Twitter.
In an additional post on Instagram, France confirmed the news by referencing his now-iconic “french tuck” method.
“French Tucking in the French Quarter of New Orleans. @queereye season 7 is underway,” he wrote.
