Netflix has blessed fans with a never-before-seen clip from Heartstopper season one to celebrate the new year.

Back in March, LGBTQ+ TV enthusiasts were finally treated to the eight-episode young adult series based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel of the same name.

The show follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a “high-strung, openly gay over-thinker,” and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), “a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player”, as they explore their blossoming romantic relationship and the pressures of coming out.

Since its release, the series has earned rave reviews from fans and critics – which resulted in the show getting renewed for not one but two additional seasons.

As a way to celebrate the end of 2022, Netflix treated fans with one final heartstopping moment from season one by releasing an adorable deleted scene of Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney).

At the start of the clip, we see Isaac and Charlie sleeping before the camera pans to Elle and Tao, laughing at the latter’s phone while watching a video.

As the two get ready to sleep, Elle admits that she misses him, to which he responds, “I miss you too.”

“It’s just me and Isaac most lunchtimes now. I don’t want to be alone,” he adds.

After Elle reassures Tao that he isn’t alone, she leans in to embrace him before a flurry of animated sparks flies around the screen.

Shortly after the clip’s release, fans clamoured to social media to express their excitement over the heartwarming Tao and Elle scene.

One fan wrote: “What? Why was this golden sweet precious moment was erased? OMG.”

Another person tweeted: “So sad this was cut! Such a lovely cosy scene, and gives more of an explanation and softness to Tao’s behaviour.”

Some fans even asked the streamer to release more deleted scenes.

“WE KNOW YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE OF THESE! GIVE US MORE! PLEASE!” one user exclaimed.

Fortunately for fans, more Heartstopper content is set to grace our screens in 2023, when season two finally makes its debut.

While an exact release date has yet to be revealed, the show recently wrapped filming on 2 December.

Taking to Instagram, Oseman wrote: “It’s been an incredibly intense few months on set with many new challenges for the cast and crew, but everyone rose to those challenges with such passion and skill and determination.

“Huge thanks to every single member of the cast and crew – everyone has worked ridiculously hard and given it their all, and for that, I am eternally grateful. This season is going to be so magical, and I can’t wait to get started on post-production!”
