Beyoncé is set to sample drag icon Moi Renee on her forthcoming album Renaissance.
For the last five years, fans have been eagerly awaiting for the Crazy in Love singer to release a follow-up to her critically acclaimed record Lemonade.
Back in June, the music juggernaut stopped the world when she released her Big Freedia-assisted house banger Break My Soul and announced the release date for her seventh solo studio album.
“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving,” Beyoncé wrote via Instagram.
“My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.
“It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
On 21 July, Beyoncé finally shared the tracklist and songwriting credits for the highly anticipated record.
While the album is full of mainstream collaborators like Drake, The Neptunes, and her sister Solange, the project is also set to boast an iconic LGBTQ+ talent.

According to various reports, Beyoncé’s new track Pure/Honey will be sampling drag icon Moi Renee and their sleeper hit Miss Honey.
In the early 90s, the acclaimed queen made waves within the underground queer scene; and was praised for their high camp performances at some of New York’s most famous venues like The Shelter and Midtown 43.
Since its release in 1992, Moi’s Miss Honey record has remained a staple within LGBTQ+ spaces.
Shortly after the tracklist was released, fans took to social media to express their excitement over the sample and its inclusion on Renaissance.
One fan tweeted: “Beyoncé is sampling this bop from 90s drag legend Moi Renee on Pure/Honey… I’m shaking you guys!”
Another user wrote: “If one more person mentions that Donna Summer sample on Beyonce’s album. Moi Renee is all I care about.”

If you aren’t familiar with the excellent if Moi Renee’s Miss Honey, enjoy. (Beyoncé’s credits don’t include Franklin Fuentes though so it might just be a sample of the acapella.)https://t.co/28qDCEZgGd
