Lauren Jauregui has released her debut solo single Expectations.

The bisexual icon is the latest member of chart-topping girl group Fifth Harmony to branch out into a solo career, after previously lending her vocals to guest features on tracks by Halsey, Marian Hill, Steve Aoki and Ty Dolla $ign.

“Wish I had no expectations, I wish that I could get it through your head, with no confrontation, I really wish we could talk about it instead,” she sings to an unfaithful lover on the sultry, guitar-driven track.

Meanwhile, the Lauren Dunn-directed clip, which is shot entirely in black-and-white, sees two versions of the singer roam an empty mansion, one in a white dress and one in black leather, culminating in a dramatic finale.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Lauren said that the “shackles” came off when Fifth Harmony split, suggesting that she felt “stifled” during her time with the band.

“When everything with Fifth wrapped up, that’s really when the floodgate of inspo’ really took hold,” she said. “It’s really, for me, the perfect piece to come out first, just in my connection to it and the way I express myself.”
