New play Please Please Me paints an intriguing picture of queer British life in the 1960s – review
Please Please Me just slightly misses the mark in terms of telling Brian’s fascinating tale.
As the title of the play would suggest, Please Please Me does have a Beatles angle - but despite being named after the Fab Four’s debut album, the focus of the play is on their manager, Brian Epstein, and his complicated relationship with the band’s de facto leader John Lennon.
