Ryan Murphy has opened up about Ariana Grande's departure from the upcoming season of American Horror Story.

Back in October, it was announced that the pop icon would be appearing in the 13th instalment of the long-running horror anthology series. 

The following month, Grande briefly touched on her involvement while speaking to Variety, teasing that she would have a "very tiny thing to do in it."  

However, on 10 July, it was announced that the Wicked star was no longer participating in the season. Following weeks of silence, Murphy finally addressed Grande's departure in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that Grande's busy schedule played a role in her opting out.
