Throughout 2025, queer cinephiles have been treated to a wealth of captivating LGBTQIA+ films. From Tessa Thompson’s sapphic adaptation of Hedda and James Sweeney and Dylan O’Brien’s traumatic dramedy Twinless, to Jonathan Groff and Karan Soni’s historic romantic comedy A Nice Indian Boy and Alexander Skarsgård’s gay BDSM biker romance Pillion, queer subgroups finally received some well-deserved representation.

Fortunately, 2026 is already shaping up to deliver even more. A gay couple put their lives on the line to rescue their son and defend their “pot-friendly” settlement in Burning Rainbow Farm; Kit Connor and Joe Locke close out Nick and Charlie’s beloved love story in Heartstopper Forever; and Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep reunite after 20 years as Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

With 2025 coming to a close, we’ve curated a list of every LGBTQIA+ film confirmed — (or rumoured) to be released in 2026 (so far!).

Burning Rainbow Farm

Cast and director:

Right now, Leo Woodall and Sebastian Stan are the only names officially attached — and honestly, what a duo. The film will be helmed by Justin Kurzel, the visionary behind Macbeth, Snowtown and The Order.

Plot:

Adapted from Dean Kuiper’s book, Burning Rainbow Farm tells the true story of Tom Crosslin (Stan) and Rollie Rohm (Woodall), a gay couple who turn their rural Southwest Michigan home into a pot-friendly utopia called Rainbow Farm. But when they “run afoul of local authorities and their young son is taken from them,” their peaceful haven erupts into one of “the largest and most dramatic sieges America has ever seen.”

Release date:

No official release date yet, but production company Rocket Science showcased the film to international buyers at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
