Following her historic victory at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, Loreen has been confirmed to play Mighty Hoopla.
The Swedish icon will make an appearance at the UK’s ultimate pop extravaganza on the Sunday (4 June). Taking place in Brockwell Park, London, it will mark Loreen’s first festival appearance since her aforementioned win.
This year’s Mighty Hoopla will also welcome performances from stars such as Kelly Rowland, Years & Years, Kelis, Natasha Bedingfield, Róisín Murphy, FLO, Confidence Man, Beverley Knight, Jake Shears, Aqua and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
On 13 May, Loreen conquered Eurovision with her hypnotic pop track Tattoo, becoming the first woman – and second person overall after Ireland’s Johnny Logan – to win the contest twice.
Rightfully so, she has now been dubbed the “Queen of Eurovision”.
She memorably triumphed in 2012 with her iconic dance track Euphoria, which received the second-highest number of points ever (at the time) and topped the charts in various European countries.
Tattoo is also destined for chart galore. According to the UK Charts, the track is in the race for this week’s number-one.
“I’m absolutely overwhelmed by all the love and support that I’m receiving right now,” Loreen said in a statement.
“Especially from my UK friends that’s been with me since day one. The UK’s become my second home and to receive my first #1 there with Tattoo would mean the world to me. Thank you for being a part of the journey, together we’ve created history.”
In an interview with GAY TIMES ahead of Eurovision, Loreen said the LGBTQ+ community welcomed her with open arms after she came out as bisexual.
“This is my space. This was the community that accepted me for who I am. I have been a seeker trying to find my home,” she explained.
“I came into this community and they were like, ‘Do you know what? We’re digging you. We like you just the way you are. We appreciate you. We know what you’re going through.’ Can you imagine? This is my home. It is ours.”
