Many fans are hoping for a romance between Poe and former Stormtrooper Finn.
Since The Force Awakens, Star Wars fans have been calling for the possibility of a same-sex romance in the star-faring franchise. But with only one film left in this series, could fans get what they’ve been waiting for?
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron, was asked about a fan theory doing the rounds. In Pablo Hidalgo’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi – The Visual Dictionary, there is a ring necklace that belongs to Poe.
The description of the necklace reads: “Poe wears the wedding ring of his late mother, Shara Bey, on a necklace, waiting to share it someday with the right partner.”
Many have taken the gender-neutral term “partner” to mean that Poe would be open to a relationship with Finn. When asked about this theory, Isaac responded saying: “I’m all about keeping it as fluid as possible.
“There are a lot of interesting people in the galaxy, it’d be a shame to cut off 50 percent. I think Poe’s open to any kind of adventure.”

This isn’t the first time that Isaac has discussed Poe’s sexuality. In the past, he signed a fan’s sign endorsing a romance between Poe and Finn, and in December when asked what it would mean to him if Poe was LGBTQ he said: “What it means to me is that people can see themselves in a hero like this, in a movie like this, which I love.
“As to actually seeing how that manifests itself in Poe in this film, that isn’t necessarily going to be a clear story point. But as an actor, I’m very open to those storylines.”
