Lady Gaga’s two-year-long residency in Las Vegas began last night.

Rumours were confirmed last year when it was announced that Lady Gaga would be headlining her own show at the Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino’s Park Theater.

“It’s the land of Elvis, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Elton John, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli,” Gaga said in a statement.

“It has been a life-long dream of mine to play Las Vegas. I am humbled to be a part of a historical line-up of performers, and to have the honour of creating a new show unlike anything Vegas has ever seen before.

“I’ll tell you exactly what I told my MGM and Park Theater partners: You can count on this performer always for one thing…I’ll leave my heart on the stage every single night.

“Thank you to my fans for always believing in me. Meet me in Las Vegas, baby, we did it!”

And baby, she did it! She kicked off the show with some of her earlier hits like Just Dance, Poker Face and LoveGame. And in true Gaga style, for Just Dance she flew onto the stage, and everyone, even Katy Perry was shook.

Her second act included some more of her earlier hits, including Dance in the Dark, Beautiful Dirty Rich, The Fame, Telephone and Paparazzi. The second also had Applause and Aura from her ArtPop album.

Her third act saw her perform mainly songs from the Born This Way album, including Sheiße, Judas, Government Hooker, The Edge of Glory and I’m Afraid of Americans.

Her fourth act contained her hit songs Alejandro, Million Reasons and You and I. And closing out with her fifth act, she closed with some of her most famous songs, Bad Romance and Born This Way. And as an encore, she performed the song Shallow from A Star is Born.

If this is just a glimpse of what’s to come, then Lady Gaga is set to have an very impressive 2019. The pyrotechnics were off the charts, her futuristic outfits were stunning and Gaga singing in a massive robot is just peak Gaga.
