Our prayers have been answered!
Ever since Jessica Lange made her departure from hit anthology series American Horror Story after season four, fans have been keeping their fingers crossed for a return from the legendary actress.
Well, it looks like our patience has paid off, as it’s now been confirmed that she will make her highly-anticipated comeback during the upcoming season eight (Apocalypse) of the show – even better, she’ll be playing a familiar character…
Jessica will return as Constance Langdon, who fans will remember played the next-door neighbour of the Harmons in season one (Murder House) and ended her story arc looking after anti-christ baby Michael, who will play a big part in Apocalypse.
The news came courtesy of American Horror Story mainstay and fan favourite Sarah Paulson, who made the announcement during the TCA summer press tour over the weekend. Sarah will direct the episode that features Jessica.

Elsewhere, it was revealed by FX that the show has been renewed for a tenth season, meaning we have at least two more seasons of American Horror Story to come after Apocalypse – although we wouldn’t be surprised if it carries on forever at this point.
Show creator Ryan Murphy has already confirmed that Apocalypse will be the much-rumoured crossover between season one (Murder House) and season three (Coven), so it makes sense for Jessica to return as Constance.
We also know some previously confirmed details about other cast members who’ll be returning, including series regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates, as well as Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman.
They’ll be joined by Hollywood legend Joan Collins, who will make her American Horror Story debut as the “glamorous” grandmother to Evan’s character, who’s been described as a ‘comedic hair stylist’.
Jeffrey Bowyer Chapman (UnReal) and Kyle Allen (The Path) have also been cast as guest stars.
Meanwhile, Emma Roberts will step back into her iconic role of Hollywood star Madison Montgomery, who made her first debut appearance in Coven, in which she battled to become the next Supreme in a coven full of fellow teenage witches.
