Kevin Hart has received widespread backlash after homophobic comments from his Twitter resurfaced.
The American comedian, who was recently announced as the host for next year’s Academy Awards, used several homophobic slurs in a series of tweets between 2009 and 2010.
“lmao, that’s why u sweat 4 know reason u fat faced f*g,” he tweeted in 2009.
The following year he wrote: “U ever see a woman so horrible built that it makes u feel gay looking at her body? Lmao yess ol grace jones looking ass woman.”
In another tweet, he said: “I just saw the biggest gay guy ever! This n**ga looked like hulf hogan with heels on! I can’t lie I got scared!!!!!!”
On several occasions, Hart also called his followers ‘gay face’.
The Jumanji star has been condemned in the past for his anti-gay views.
In 2010, for his Seriously Funny show, he told the audience: “One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay. That’s a fear.”
He added: “Keep in mind I’m not homophobic… Be happy. Do what you want to do. But me, as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.”
Hart defended the joke in an interview with Rolling Stone, telling the publication: “It’s about my fear.
“I’m thinking about what I did as a dad, did I do something wrong, and if I did, what was it? Not that I’m not gonna love my son or think about him any differently.
“The funny thing within that joke is it’s me getting mad at my son because of my own insecurities — I panicked. It has nothing to do with him, it’s about me.”
He hasn’t apologised for his views on homosexuality, and is yet to comment on the tweets.
