‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star Carmen Carrera “would” consider a potential return to the show, but said that she is unsure of how she would want to do it.
Since appearing on season three in 2011, Carmen has yet to compete on ‘All Stars’ or one of ‘Drag Race’s’ other iterations, such as ‘vs the World’.
During an appearance on the ‘Very Delta’ podcast, which is hosted by season three alum Delta Work, Carmen revealed that she is open to returning to ‘Drag Race’.
“I would, yeah, hell yeah I would!” she told her sister after being asked what capacity she could see herself coming back in. “I would love to see an all-trans All Stars, that would be cool.”
Carmen added that she has “even thought about possibly going on ‘Drag Race’ just to compete as a brand new competitor” due to being a “different person” than she was.

“But I’m not sure if that’s possible,” she continued. “I don’t really know where I stand with the producers of the show and stuff like that, you know?”
She shared that “things seem cool” between her and the production team but there has “been a lot of controversy in the past” and she’s unsure of how that would impact a potential return to the franchise.
“I haven’t spoken to Michelle [Visage] in a long time and I haven’t spoken to RuPaul either, so I think it would be interesting, you know, to see how that would pan out,” she said.
Delta assured Carmen that “people would love it” if she were to compete again, to which the star responded: “I know, I would love it too, I would love it too. But I’m not sure how I’d go about it, like, would I want to do an ‘All Stars’ or would I want to just start from scratch? I don’t know.”
“We need to be able to come together and remind ourselves who we are”
Carmen recently appeared at Miami Beach Pride, where she helped host some of the main weekend’s celebrations.
Speaking to GAY TIMES at the event, she explained that Pride continues to be essential for LGBTQ+ people as it allows “us to come together and share ideas and also find that safe space among one another”.
“I think that there’s this nuance with Pride,” she continued. “There’s so many different kinds of people nowadays and Pride is open to everyone, and especially now with everything that’s going on here in the States and how people are literally trying to take our rights away as we speak, we need to be able to come together and remind ourselves who we are because we spent so much time fighting, but we’re more than that.”

Despite the atmosphere at Miami Beach Pride being “alive” and “vibrant”, an array of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation has been introduced in the state of Florida.
This includes restrictions on discussions of LGBTQ+ identities in the classroom to an array of anti-trans bills targeting both sport and gender-related care, among other things.
In light of this, Carmen urged young trans people to remember “the most important” thing is to love yourself above all else.

“You know that you’re special, you know that you’re amazing, so let’s start there, okay?” she explained.
“Let’s not forget that and don’t get too lost in trying to fight and trying to get people to change their minds about who you are. Sometimes people won’t accept you, and that’s okay.
“You know, the most important part is that you accept you and that you love yourself and that’s something that you are going to be developing as a human being throughout your entire life.
“So let’s give less focus to the people that don’t understand you and less focus to those that don’t resonate with your experience because they’re not like you and more focus on growing your amazing self so that you can show them why they’re wrong.”
