Heartstopper fans rejoice! Another character from Alice Oseman’s hit LGBTQ+ graphic novel series will be debuting in season two.
Over the last few months, LGBTQ+ TV enthusiasts have immersed themselves in the heartwarming Netflix drama.
The show follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a “high-strung, openly gay over-thinker,” and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), “a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player”, and their blossoming romantic relationship.
Upon its release in March, the series earned critical acclaim, with viewers watching close to 25 million hours of the show during its first full week on the platform.
Due to its immense popularity and fan outcry, Netflix announced that the show would be renewed for not one but two additional seasons.
“To those who have fallen in love with Nick & Charlie, cried watching Alice Oseman’s magical story brought to life, or felt represented for the first time on-screen, I am elated to announce… Heartstopper has been renewed for TWO MORE SEASONS,” the streamer wrote via Twitter.
Since the news was announced, fans have been eager to find out more details about season two.
Fortunately on 8 July, See-Saw Films revealed that they were officially looking for an actor to portray Sahar Zahid.
In the graphic novel, she is introduced as a transfer student from Harvey Greene Grammar School who becomes instant friends with Nick, Charlie, and the rest of the Truham Grammar gang.

“We are looking for a plus-size actor of British South Asian heritage who identifies as female or non-binary,” the casting call said.
“Sahar is in Year 11 at Higgs. No nonsense, independent, a little cynical at times.”
The casting announcement also gave fans insight into when the highly-anticipated season would start filming, stating: “You must be available from Autumn 2022.”
Lastly, the casting announcement revealed that 25 July would be the deadline for submissions.
Shortly after the announcement, some of the Heartstopper cast took to social media and shared their excitement for the new addition.
Yasmin Finney (Elle Argent) wrote: “I’ll be waiting with open arms.”
Kizzy Edgell tweeted, “Come join us!” while Tobie Donavan wrote: “Very exciting.”
The first season of Heartstopper is available on Netflix worldwide.
