A new LGBTQIA+ channel may be coming to Hungarian TV waves.

According to a report from Media 1, an application for a new channel, Szivárvány TV (translated as Rainbow TV), has been submitted to the country's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH).

The pending station – which would break new ground as Hungary's first-ever LGBTQIA+ focused TV channel – is expected to air content 24 hours a day. It will feature an array of "premium cultural and entertainment programs" covering art, music, gastronomic specialities, talk shows, interviews, and LGBTQIA+ history.

In addition to having the free TV channel, Szivárvány TV will offer an online streaming option, and content labelled 18+ will be encrypted. At the same time, it will only be available to "adult subscribers, with technical protection in accordance with legal requirements."
