Kerri Colby, the Oprah of drag? It feels correct!
After being catapulted to superstardom as a contestant on the 14th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the star has landed her own agony-aunt style series on WOW Presents Plus.
Titled Kerri Kares, the new series follows Kerri as she candidly discusses various topics such as confidence, relationships and LGBTQ+ issues. Kerri has recruited a gag-worthy line-up of guest stars including Ongina, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, Arisce Wancer and Mayhem Miller.
All episodes of Kerri Kares will be available on WOW Presents Plus at 12pm PST from Wednesday 25 January.
Although Kerri didn’t snatch the crown during her time on Drag Race, she became an instant fan-favourite due to her style and warm, insightful character.
Her unabashed confidence as a trans woman inspired fellow contestant Jasmine Kennedie to also come out as trans in Untucked. Bosco and Willow Pill later came out as trans, making season 14 the most “transtastic” in Drag Race herstory.
In her exit interview with GAY TIMES, Kerri said: “Just in living authentically, I was able to be an example that made things more comfortable for my sisters to either open up about their journey, find their journey or dig deeper and start to search into their journey.
“And that’s just the truth we needed. Trans women have been around for eons and eons, but many times in recent history, we have not been given the opportunity to speak or be spoken to correctly. And once you give us the opportunity and the floor, that’s all we ask for.
“If we get the opportunity to share, it’s amazing what you’ll usually find happens when you allow someone to exist in a space.”
