“Lesbian arguments are a bit like sex: you’ve got to settle in for several hours,” jokes Quinn*. “With my current and previous girlfriends, disagreements get very intensely emotional and we talk for a very long time.”
Heterosexual relationships have a blueprint for arguing: women want to talk things through, and men want to run away. But in queer relationships there are no rules. Amongst sapphic partners in particular, this can amount to conflict that stretches for hours. “My girlfriend and I talk about things at a lot of length,” says Quinn. “We talk for a really long time, we often cry together, and then we repair from there.”
