While that specific genre isn’t completely barren thanks to beloved series like Queer as Folk (UK and US), Looking and Noah’s Arc, more recent attempts with a similar vibe – such as Uncoupled and Mid-Century Modern – have fallen victim to the one-season cancellation curse, which has been plaguing LGBTQIA+-led series in recent years.

Fortunately, our calls for a gay equivalent of Sex and the City and The Golden Globes have been answered in the form of the YouTube series The Disappointments.
