Over the years, queer audiences have been treated to a growing slate of LGBTQIA+ TV shows, from Heartstopper and Interview with the Vampire to Heated Rivalry and beyond – a welcome shift we’re more than grateful for here at Gay Times. But despite our growing catalogue of gay-centric series, there’s a notable gap when it comes to series exploring dynamic friendships of older gay men.

While that specific genre isn’t completely barren thanks to beloved series like Queer as Folk (UK and US), Looking and Noah’s Arc, more recent attempts with a similar vibe such as Uncoupled and Mid-Century Modern – have fallen victim to the one-season cancellation curse, which has been plaguing LGBTQIA+-led series in recent years.

Fortunately, our calls for a gay equivalent of Sex and the City and The Golden Globes have been answered in the form of the YouTube series The Disappointments. With buzz around the show continuing to build thanks to the long-awaited arrival of season two, here’s everything you need to know about the series.
