Charlie Hunnam is looking back on his “beautiful experience” in the groundbreaking series Queer as Folk.

The British actor memorably starred as 15-year-old rebel Nathan Maloney in Russell T. Davies’ Channel 4 series, which followed the lives of three gay men living in Manchester’s gay village.

Also starring Aidan Gillen and Craig Kelly, Queer as Folk ran for 10 episodes across two seasons between 1999 and 2000. The series went on to inspire the US adaptation of the same name, which ran from 2000 to 2005 before being rebooted for a short-lived 2022 revival. The original has since been hailed as one of the most trailblazing LGBTQIA+ series of all time.

Reflecting on the show’s enduring legacy in a recent interview with Out, Hunnam said: "What an outpouring of support and celebration that show enjoyed! It was such a beautiful experience and way to start my career.”
