New musical Marie & Rosetta, written by George Brant, opened last week on London’s West End at @sohoplace following a tour in 2025. It tells the story of Sister Rosetta Tharpe - a pioneering, formidable singer, dubbed the ‘Godmother of Rock ’n’ Roll’ - and of younger, more conservative and religious singer Marie Knight. We gain an insight into their lives as they tour together through the late 1940s.
