25 people were arrested during a protest pushing back against the Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) proposed rules targeting gender-affirming care for trans youth.
On 17 February, the Gender Liberation Movement (GLM) held a demonstration in front of the HHS building in Washington, D.C.
Backed by over 50 parents and activists, including members from ACT UP NY and ACT UP Pittsburgh, the group blockaded the main entrance while chanting "HHS–RFK–TRANS YOUTH ARE NO DEBATE" and "NO-HATE-NO FEAR-TRANS YOUTH ARE WELCOME HERE." They also held signs that read "HANDS OFF OUR 'MONES.
The GLM-led protest was in response to the HHS and the Centres for Medicaid Services' proposed rules to effectively ban gender affirming care for trans youth across the US.
