It’s no secret that we’re big fans of hit musical Hadestown – we gave it a glowing review when it opened on the West End back in 2024, and we’ve been following the show for quite some time, since its UK premiere at the National Theatre way back in 2018.

The subsequent Broadway production picked up a Grammy and swept the Tony Awards, picking up eight accolades including the coveted Best Musical. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – it’s a fantastic production, one that’s well worth your time if you’ve yet to see it.

Last week we returned to catch it at the Lyric Theatre, with a new cast headed up by The Wanted star Nathan Sykes as Orpheus – an impressive addition to the cast in his West End debut, he’s able to nail the role’s delicate falsetto while also bringing a belting chest voice when required. Opposite him is Fayth Ifil as Eurydice; playing Hades and Persephone we have Shaun Dooley and Danielle de Niese; and Malinda Parris takes the role of narrator Hermes.
