The upcoming queer epic La Bola Negra is already making history.

Directed by creative duo Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Alberto Conejero, the Spanish drama is inspired by the unfinished work of acclaimed Spanish poet Federico García Lorca, as well as Conejero's play La piedra oscura.

Originally, La Bola Negra – which Netflix acquired following its impressive debut at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival – was scheduled to hit theatres on 6 November before arriving on the streamer in the US on 4 December.
