Netflix has shared the official, full-length trailer for its Oscar contender La bola negra.

Directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi – known collectively as Los Javis – the upcoming queer epic is inspired by Federico García Lorca’s unfinished work La bola negra and Alberto Conejero’s play La piedra oscura.

Set across 1932, 1937 and 2017, La bola negra explores the intertwined lives of three gay men as they navigate sexuality, desire, pain and generational trauma.

La bola negra boasts an ensemble cast, with Guitarricadelafuente as Sebastián, Carlos González as Alberto and Miguel Bernardeau as Rafael Rodríguez Rapún. Additional stars include Milo Quifes, Lola Dueñas, Penélope Cruz, Antonio de la Torre, Natalia de Molina, Albert Pla, Yenesi Suárez, Lorenzo Zurzolo, Daniel Ibáñez, Julio Torres and Glenn Close.

The trailer teases the film’s three timelines, showing Carlos (Quifes) as he attempts to become a member of an exclusive social club; Sebastián (Guitarricadelafuente), a soldier during the Spanish Civil War, as he finds a romantic connection with injured soldier Rafael Rodríguez Rapún (Bernardeau); and Alberto (González), a historian attempting to uncover a family secret.
