Music legend Chaka Khan has a thing or two to say about being dubbed a "straight icon."

Since bursting onto the scene in the early '70s, the beloved singer has dominated the music world, earning the title "Queen of Funk" and releasing dozens of chart-topping hits that have transcended genres and decades.

Beyond being a vocal powerhouse who paved the way for many of today's top female artists, Khan has long resonated with LGBTQIA+ fans through powerful anthems like 'I'm Every Woman' and her unwavering allyship with the community, earning her a reputation as a queer icon.

While Khan's icon status knows no bounds, there's one label she's not a fan of: being a "straight icon."

During a recent interview with the Observer, the singer was asked how she felt about being a "straight icon for queer visibility."
