‘Discourse’ coming around every Pride Month has become something of a meme, whether it’s about the role of kink in Pride parades, if queer people should bring their cis-het boyfriends or whether Pride events should be child-friendly. As the sun begins to set on May 31st, if you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of thousands of people typing away or setting up tripods. Discourse month is about to begin. As journalist James Greig put it, “The conversation is dictated by those with the least to say.”
Lucky for us, it seems to have come somewhat early this year (perhaps due to climate change; the discourse seems to begin whenever the weather warms up). If you’ve been on TikTok recently, you may have seen an influx of videos about bi women who don’t date women or who prefer to date men.
