As the reigning Queen of the Mothertucking World, Gawdland has racked up a series of herstoric Drag Race firsts: the youngest champion in the franchise, the first non-Brit to win UK vs the World and the first Thai queen crowned by RuPaul. The 24-year-old tells Gay Times that she wants her victory to be “the example for queer kids” in rural areas to “dream big”: “I want the Asian, little queer kid to see me up on national television and get inspired by me. Period!”

Throughout UK vs the World season three, Gawdland’s innovative aesthetic and delightfully unhinged energy — from her “RuDemption, The RuMix” runway and deranged Cardi B in the Snatch Game — earned her a legion of new fans and a vocal admirer in RuPaul.

Heading into the finale with the strongest track record, Gawdland stormed two lip-sync showdowns: first defeating Mariah Balenciaga to Alexandra Burke’s footwear banger ‘Broken Heels’, then against Kate Butch to Kylie Minogue’s techno-inspired bop ‘What Do I Have To Do?’. She says: “This is the dream that I’ve been dreaming of since I was young. [...] Thank god, thank RuPaul.”

Here, Gawdland reflects on her experience filming (and winning) Drag Race UK vs the World, as well as her desire to compete on the next All Winners’ season and collaborate with Cardi B and… KFC, babes.
