Joe Locke is headed to the MCU!

According to Variety, the British actor has been cast alongside Kathryn Hahn in the upcoming WandaVision spin-off, Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Details of the series are scarce, including the character Locke will play. Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Emma Caulfield Ford, who will reprise her role as Dottie from WandaVision, is the only other confirmed cast member.

Locke memorably rose to global superstardom earlier this year as Charlie in Netflix’s queer teen drama Heartstopper, based on the beloved webcomic and graphic novel of the same name from Alice Oseman.

Chronicling the romance between Charlie and fellow student Nick (Kit Connor), the series was a monumental hit for the streamer – with viewers watching 23,940,000 hours of the show during its first full week on the platform – and was subsequently renewed for two more seasons.

For his performance as Charlie, Locke received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for Rising Star at the National Television Awards.

Posting news of his Agatha: Coven of Chaos casting on Instagram, Locke said he “screamed” when he received an email stating “welcome to the Marvel universe”.

Connor celebrated the announcement on his Instagram Story, writing: “I said he was going to take over the world. I wasn’t kidding.”

Agatha: Coven of Chaos was confirmed to be in the works in November 2021 with Jac Schaefer, head writer and executive producer on WandaVision, returning in both roles.

Hahn’s character memorably debuted as Agnes, the charismatic yet nosey neighbour of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).

It is later revealed that she is a powerful witch called Agatha Harkness who has studied magic for centuries. Enraged with Wanda’s magical prowess, Agatha attempts to steal her chaos magic (to no avail).

Coven of Chaos will presumably take place after the events of WandaVision, which culminated with Wanda magically trapping Agatha as her intrusive neighbour persona in Westview.
