Olivia Rodrigo has teamed up with Chappell Roan for a remix of ‘Expectations’ – and, in the words of one fan, “Chappell really said OK LET’S MAKE IT LESBIAN!”

The fourth single from Rodrigo’s third album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, the new-wave, synthpop track sees Roan recount a disastrous date with a woman who leaves her hanging.

In her verse, she sings: “I took her to a concert, front row thought it’d be fun / Her hand moving up my skirt, new piercing on her tongue / She said she’d call me later, that was three weeks later / Classic LA behaviour.”

Roan then puts her own queer spin on the chorus, singing that she “won’t settle for a girl with a fake job” and declaring that she’s “not kissing any girl that is passive”.

The accompanying music video is every bit as camp as you’d expect, casting the pair in a retro game show alongside cameos from Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and Dan Nigro, the track’s producer and a longtime collaborator of both artists.
