There’s a lot of hype surrounding Benedict Andrews’ new play Electra/Persona, which might have a little something to do with Cate Blanchett starring in the leading role. Well, sort of. There are two leads in this production - Blanchett appears opposite Nina Hoss, who previously played Blanchett’s wife in the film Tár - and the pair toss a coin to decide who plays which role at the beginning of each performance.

It’s an impressive feat: both parts are hugely demanding, so for each actor to learn the two roles and swap between them during the run is a remarkable achievement.
