Timothée Chalamet was speaking to Time magazine when he made the comments.
Just last month Call Me By Your Name star Armie Hammer said that a sequel to the critically-acclaimed movie would happen. At the Toronto International Film Festival he said: “It will happen because there are already people working on it and trying to make it happen.”
He added: “How much do I know and how much could I tell you are two very different things. I know a lot, but I can’t tell you anything.”
And now Hammer’s co-star in the film, Timothée Chalamet has said that both he and Hammer are up for a sequel. Speaking to Time magazine, the actor said: “I don’t see any world where it doesn’t happen.”
Chalamet continued, saying: “I think André [Aciman, the book’s author] is comfortable with a sequel being made. I know Luca [Guadagnino, the film’s director] really wants it. And I know Armie and I are 1000% in.”
Chalmet continued, saying that the film would be set a “couple of years later.” He added: “And I think that’s cool — to take advantage of the Boyhood style of storytelling. That isn’t done all the time.”
Speaking to Gay Times in October, Guadagnino teased the possibility of a sequel, saying: “Maybe in time we’ll be able to tell more stories about these people.”
Since then, he has told USA Today: “I’m already conceiving the story with André Aciman, and it’s gonna happen five or six years afterwards. It’s gonna be a new movie, a different tone.”
